Where is everyone? Please at least make dua
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatoh,
Many brothers and sisters tell me to call on them anytime if I need anything. Well, I am calling on my brothers and sisters now.
We need community support. We are ready to run the bail, but we need a community organization behind us as a surety to satisfy a Judge that allowing my husband to be released on bail is not going to endanger the public. We have even set up our basement as a secure and internet connected video monitered area where he could be supervised 24 hours a day, but not be in the isolation conditions he suffers now.
Because our community organizations banded together days after the arrests and tried to assure the public that the Canadian Muslim community doesn’t support terrorism or “radical imams”, and held public forums about ‘radical imams leading our youth astray”, they essentially told the world that they believe we are guilty and that my husband (whom they didn’t know or even hear his Khutbas or his tafsir classes), was a terrorist and was misleading youth into violence and radicalism. They thought they were assuring the public about Muslims but what they really did was confirm the gossip and lies being spread about my husband.
It looked to the world that they believed that my husband is guilty. If our own community believes this, why should a Judge trust that he wouldn’t be a danger to society if he were released on bail? How could they sacrifice our rights and security to save their image? Why didn’t they stand behind us and at least come to the families and ask us what was happening? Don’t they know that tomorrow their own children will suffer what we have suffered?
Trial won’t even begin for at least another year, and then it is presumed that it will take up to 3 or 4 years to complete. How can these men live in the isolation conditions they are in for 5 to 6 years just to reach the verdict that they are innocent of the charges against them? When any other prisoner is put into isolation behind their cells in the next hall, it only takes about 3 days for the prisoner to begin to scream and rage and thrash about his cell in temporary insanity.
These men have already been in this condition for 9 months, and they aren’t even allowed to speak to the prisoner in the next cell. Prayer and Qur’an has kept them strong and patient, Alhamdulillah.
We need you now. We need you to write to, phone and speak to the Muslim organizations in Canada, and demand that they stand behind us. We need our Ummah to protect us from this persecution, this isolation, these accusations. Why did they condemn us without even speaking to us? Why did they abandon us when we were at our most vulnerable? Why did they believe the lies of those who have declared us their enemy and not even question their intentions? Why didn’t they wait until the men had their day in court to defend themselves before they told the world they don’t stand behind us?
Where is our Ummah? Where are our brothers and sisters who have the ear of the media, who claim to represent us, who claim to have our interests at heart? We need the Canadian Muslim organizations to step up and be sureties for these men so that they can be in a safe environment where they can prepare their defense with private access to their lawyers and family members who can assist them in this monumental task. We need to show these men that their brothers and sisters are here to help them, not turn their backs on them.
We need you, you who don’t even know us, we need our brothers and sisters to believe in us and help us through this fitna that has descended on us. We need you to speak out against this isolation in our community. Speak in the mosques, type in the boards, talk to your leaders and imams. We need the community to stand behind us, in the media and in the courtroom. Public opinion is vital, and if you don’t believe in us why should a Judge?
You have seen one youth set free, his charges have been dropped. You don’t even know why because there is a publication ban, and I can’t even tell you here on this blog, because this would be breaking the law.
The media have told you there were at least 2 “Muslims” paid to spy on these friends, the media has already told you that one was paid $300.000.00 and he has confirmed this with his own tongue on CBC’s Fifth Estate. Mclean’s Magazine reported that a second Muslim man was paid $4,000,000.00 by the RCMP. It is their paid testimony which has caused this scandal. Come to the courtroom and listen for yourselves! There is no law against word of mouth. Please don’t leave us to be silenced and imprisoned because we say Allah is our Lord.
They’ve tried to silence us by accusing and slandering us. They’ve tried to terrorize you by demonizing us. Won’t you even defend YOURSELVES, YOUR rights, YOUR voices?
